UONGOZI Institute in collaboration with the World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) and Economics Department, University of Dar es Salaam are organising a one-day Public Lecture on “Natural Resources and Industrialisation: Can Gas Jump-Start Structural Change?”
The lecture will take place on the 30th of November, 2018 at Nkrumah Hall, University of Dar es Salaam from 09:oo hours to 13:00 hours, delivered by Dr. John Page, Senior Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution, and Country Director for Tanzania at the International Growth Centre.
The event will bring together policy makers, scholars, industry practitioners and the public to discuss the contemporary trends and issues critical for industrial transformation of Tanzania and Africa in general.
The lecture will be filmed and will form part of an internationally produced MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) to be released alongside a documentary in 2019. The landmark series includes lectures at the UNDP and UNIDO offices in New York, the African Economic Research Council in Nairobi and UNU-WIDER in Helsinki.
