UONGOZI Institute in collaboration with the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and University of Dar es Salaam is organising a public lecture on “Deepening Integration in SADC: Achievements, Challenges and Opportunities”. The objective of the public lecture is to stimulate discussion on regional integration, especially as it relates to SADC.

Specifically, the lecture will discuss the following:

  • Key achievements from the integration process in SADC
  • Challenges hindering the deepening of integration in SADC, and ways to overcome them
  • Opportunities available to member states  for deepening integration process
  • Lessons and best practices from other regional blocks to ensure realisation of SADC priorities

The lecture will take place at the Library Auditorium, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 09:00 hours to 12:00 hours.

The Keynote Address will be delivered by H.E. Benjamin William Mkapa, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Address will be followed by a panel discussion, where remarks from the presentation and other critical issues will be discussed.
