The Government of Tanzania has prioritized industrialization to propel Tanzania into a middle income country. The process towards industrialization is complex and needs broader and effective stakeholders’ participation. State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) are critical stakeholders responsible for translating the industrialization agenda into tangible results.
In the context of the above, UONGOZI Institute, in collaboration with the Office of the Treasury Registrar is organizing a one day Roundtable discussion to examine the role of SOEs and how they can contribute to the national industrialization agenda. The dialogue session will discuss among others:
- To discuss lessons from other countries of how SOEs have facilitated the industrialization agenda.
- The extent to which SOEs can take advantages of the opportunities emerging during the process of industrialization.
- The extent to which SOEs can meet the challenges arising from the process of industrialization.
The Roundtable will take place on 10th July, 2018 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honorable Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa is expected to officiate the Roundtable. The Keynote Presentation will be delivered by Dr. John Page, Senior Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
