This year’s African Leadership Forum (ALF) will be held virtually for the first time due to COVID-19. Similar to previous years, the Forum will be convened by H.E. Benjamin William Mkapa, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania and organised by UONGOZI Institute. The ALF 2020 will engage high-level decision-makers and people of influence to deliberate the prospect of “Promoting Intra-trade to unlock Agricultural Potentials in Africa” from 29-30 July. It will feature an opening plenary, with keynote address by H.E. Mkapa, as well as three closed thematic sessions.

The main objectives are:

  1. To explore Africa’s agricultural potentials in the global economy;
  2. To share experiences and lessons on the obstacles (internal and global) in maximising agricultural potential in Africa;
  3. To discuss the potential and obstacles for implementing a one-trade concept in Africa’s agriculture; and
  4. To discuss practical and realistic requirements for implementing the one-trade concept in Africa’s Agriculture.
