Legal sector reform initiatives aiming to foster good governance and the rule of law date back to 2000. The focus has been to improve service delivery by promoting access to justice and human rights; improving administrative justice; and building the knowledge and skills of legal professionals.
The Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs in collaboration with UONGOZI Institute organised a stakeholders’ meeting to deliberate lessons from the first phase of the Legal Sector Reform Programme (LSRP I) and the way forward for the next phase (LSRP II).
The meeting, held in Dar es Salaam on 11th March, 2019 aimed to develop a comprehensive, focused and inclusive LSRP document.
The meeting was followed by a two-day technical workshop, where the secretariat conducted a thorough analysis of issues that were raised during the meeting and identified key points that would inform the LSRP II.
