Flagship Events GGP

A core component of the activities of the UONGOZI Institute to support sustainable development is the Green Growth Platform (GGP). Launched in 2010, GGP aims to increase awareness and understanding of issues related to green growth and its potential for Tanzania’s development.

The Platform brings together diverse stakeholders from Government, the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners to discuss common challenges facing Tanzania and identify mutually beneficial solutions. In this way, the GGP is a proactive tool for creating cross-sectoral linkages, building long-term social capital and promoting economic and social wellbeing, while safeguarding the ecosystems and environment that sustain us all.

Each event combines dialogue on critical issues for environmental protection and sustainable development with field excursions to enable participants to observe and learn first-hand: what the reality is, what is being done, what the results are, the challenges encountered and how they are being solved. This approach allows participants to more fully understand and internalise the challenges and solutions discussed.

Several events have been convened since the GGP’s establishment in 2013. These have been under the patronage of the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania. H.E. Philip Isdor Mpango follows H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Gharib Bilal as patron.
