In August, 2019 we organised a public lecture on “Deepening Integration in SADC: Achievements, Challenges and Opportunities” together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and University of Dar es Salaam. The lecture was one of the pre-events leading to the 39th SADC Summit hosted in Dar es Salaam.

The keynote address was delivered by H.E. Benjamin William Mkapa, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania. In his remarks, he considered the obstacles and opportunities arising from economic integration within the SADC region. He considered this within the context of SADC’s development and also global forces that are influencing the southern African region.
