On 4 July 2023, UONGOZI Institute in collaboration with Stockholm Environment Institute, C40 Climate Leadership Group, Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, and National Environment Management Council, will convene a national dialogue on air quality in Tanzania.
The event, to be held in Dar es Salaam, will discuss actions and strategies for cleaner air in the country.
The guest of honour will be Hon. Dr. Selemani Saidi Jafo, Minister of State (Union and Environment), Vice President’s Office.
Specifically, the dialogue will:
(i) Present findings of monitoring studies on the status of air pollution in Dar-es-Salaam city;
(ii) Share findings from the Africa Integrated Assessment on Air Pollution and Climate Change with specific results for Tanzania and also, experiences from other African countries and cities;
(iii) Raise awareness on the air pollution challenges in Tanzania and in Dar es Salaam and its impact on human health and the environment; and
(iv) Discuss and propose actions and opportunities for air pollution control measures across different source sectors at the city and national level as part of the development of An Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP).
